GFX 50S II kit vs Nikon D810 vs more XF glass

Main Post:

I'm about to take the plunge and trade my Nikon D810 kit against a GFX 50S II kit. I'm probably going to take a pretty big hit on it doing a trade in, but private sales I've had no bites... I was originally selling to get the GFX 50S II kit with the 35-70 lens.

I don't use the D810 anymore, not since I stopped doing fashion and wedding work, and especially not since I got my XT4 and it's kit. I'm completely changed in my focus as a photographer. I'm now more city scape, landscape, and getting more and more into night sky photography. I still do some event work here and there, but the XT4 is just more enjoyable to shoot with and gets pretty good results. I haven't missed the D810 at all. Aside from when I want to take higher resolution images for huge prints.

So it's currently sitting at the store awaiting appraisal. I'm hoping to get $3000 CAD for it. But... would I be better suited on upgrading XT4 glass instead of a medium format camera.

My pros for the GFX are that with all my research it will have better noise handling for night shots of aurora and milky way. The image shift capture for landscapes is very intriguing. The images appear to have more depth (something I noticed handling a friends and trying one out in store). I also shoot medium format film (Pentax), but it's getting prohibitively expensive. I absolutely LOVE the look and feel of medium format.

On the other hand, I got gaps in my XF lens line up. I could use a faster wide angle. my only wide lens is the 10-24, and while I love it and it lives on my camera, I find it a bit slow for night sky.

So option 1 is keep the D810 kit as it's still an amazing camera, even tho it's quite dated (lens selection: 16-35 f4, 24-70 f2.8, 70-200 f2.8, 50mm f1.4, 135mm f2.0 DC)

Option 2: GFX 50S II kit with 35-70mm lens. Will not make me a better photographer. But will be a fantastic tool to compliment my XT4 kit. Especially for prints and night sky.

Option 3: Fill out the XF lens gaps. 18mm f1.4, 16-55mm f2.8, and a teleconverter. (I own the 10-24 f4, 35mm f1.4, 56mm f1.2, 50-140mm f2.8)

and I have been selling prints already, and have secured a booth for the upcoming fall season. So I am making some money at this.

Edit: gonna wait for the xh2 and see what it brings to the table. In the meantime gonna go pick me up a 18mm f1.4

Top Comment: My advice: sell the Nikon gear, keep your XF glass, fill in some gaps, and wait for the X-H2R which will have a 40MP sensor. The Medium Format is nice, but it doesn't sound like you need it, it just sounds like you want it. Save yourself money and get the next X-H2 which should be released very soon.

Tempered Glass Screen Protectors - Sony Xperia 1 ii

Main Post:

Hi guys, looking for a tempered glass screen protector for when I buy the 1 ii and was wondering if anyone had some recommendations here? Was thinking of getting Brotect but I have to buy that brand overseas so want to know if it's good before I purchase.

I have a devilcase screen protector. Bought it when I bought the devilcase shell lite case. It's alright, but the borders are a bit thicker than the screen's actual borders so it cuts a teeny-tiny bit of screen estate on the sides.

Ordered an armorsuit screen protector (case friendly). This one is similar to skinomi's screen protectors.

Joe "Bread Boy" O'Brian is such a gem. I could not care less what he plays, I'm just happy his energy will be present for GCP campaign 2.
